Get Caught Having Fun Reading!

(PEACHTREE CITY, GA)—For the last 11 years the Association of American
Publishers has encouraged reading among children with their Get Caught
Reading Month program.  This year the 2010: Year of the Children’s Mystery
Book program is taking a mysterious spin on this long-standing tradition and
telling readers to Get Caught Reading…A Mystery!

Get Caught Reading A Mystery will run during the month of May 2010, in
support of the AAP’s Get Caught Reading program.  Participating couldn’t be
more fun or easy!  With the permission of those participating, take a picture of
yourself, friend, family, student or whomever reading their favorite mystery
book.  Once you have the picture go to www.childrensmysterybooks.org and
click on the Get Caught Reading A Mystery link to submit your photo and see
other pictures that have been submitted.

There has never been a better time to dust off that favorite mystery book and fall in love with it again. Not only is May Get Caught Reading A Mystery month, but May 9—15, 2010 is also National Reading is Fun Week. Take this opportunity to show young readers how fun and engaging reading can be by participating in the Get Caught Reading a Mystery month.

Award-winning author and spokesperson of 2010: Year of the Children’s Mystery Book Carole Marsh is kicking-off the Get Caught Reading A Mystery program by submitting her own picture.  “The goal is to ignite the love of reading among young people,” says Marsh. “For many young readers an engaging mystery book is the key that unlocks a love of reading.”

Resources for parents, teachers, librarians and readers are available at www.childrensmysterybooks.org and include a suggested Mystery Reading List, Mystery Challenge bookmarks, the History of the Mystery article by Carole Marsh, the Mystery Party Kit, Summer Reading Program and much more.

All information and resources are completely free of charge and help create an enjoyable and educational experience with reading and will aid in making 2010 the most mysterious year ever! Educators, retailers, librarians and all organizations interested in children’s literacy, education and anything spooky or mysterious are invited to get involved by visiting www.childrensmysterybooks.org and signing up to be on the mailing list or as a sponsor.
