The Baffling Baseball Mystery is another home run for children’s author Carole Marsh.

Suitably named, The Baffling Baseball Mystery takes Marsh’s super-sleuth grandchildren, Christina and Grant, on a tour of baseball’s most famous places with their jet-setting grandparents and a few adventurous friends. Not only does the family’s planned “baseball road trip” begin at Atlanta’s Turner Field, but so does the mischief.

What’s so mysterious about baseball? The ghost of Babe Ruth, priceless baseball memorabilia, die-hard sports fans, and the infamous “Black Sox” scandal that expelled Shoeless Joe Jackson from the league all lead the kids on the hunt for a notorious thief. The characters follow clues through the history of baseball to solve a modern-day mystery that starts with the Babe himself.

The kids get to see everything baseball – up-close. While touring famous fields, visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame, and playing the game themselves, the kids have an unforgettable time and learn a lot. They learn about all the greats, from Mickey Mantle to today’s pros, making it the perfect story for sports lovers. And all the “legends, curses, and scandals” of America’s favorite pastime provide just enough thrill for young readers.

The Baffling Baseball Mystery is an out-of-the-park combination of action and intrigue, kid-style. With the crack of bats echoing through stadiums, the characters race to break this case – wide open.

Bottom line: Marsh’s first sports mystery is a hit – a kids’ book with wide appeal and good, old-fashioned, all-American fun.
