Publisher Donates New Book to Six
Fayette County Middle School Libraries
Fiction Space Story Stars Characters Based on Local Students

Peachtree City, GA – Local publisher Gallopade recently presented copies of the latest book by nationally acclaimed author Carole Marsh to all six middle school libraries in Fayette County. Media specialists at Bennett’s Mill, Flat Rock, J.C. Booth, Rising Starr, Whitewater, and Fayette Middle all received copies of WHEN KIDS TAKE OVER NASA, Marsh’s recent hit, to add to their schools’ collections.

WHEN KIDS TAKE OVER NASA stars five local kids from Fayette and Coweta County as main characters and has already become a superstar, delighting eager readers and future scientists around the country. As for young astronauts cropping up overnight, like the kids in the book, the author quips, “the future of space travel is in the hands of a new generation now,” then adds, bubbling, “I’m just excited to see what’s next!“

Marsh says she was inspired to write WHEN KIDS TAKE OVER NASA the moment she heard that the American space shuttle program was coming to an end. “The message it sends to young people is disturbing,” remarks the author. “Only a few years ago, space exploration was a heart-pounding, real-life adventure.” When asked why she chose real, local kids to base her characters on, Marsh replied, “I want kids to witness current events and be inspired by them.  And eventually, be a part of them. So, I decided to start with a fictional story featuring real kids who take action!”

Marsh, who has made her home in Peachtree City for the past decade, has made young readers her mission since she wrote her first educational mystery in 1979. Although best known for her educational children’s mysteries and K-8 standards-aligned social studies curriculum materials (known in Georgia as the Georgia Experience series), Marsh has also created and expanded her own publishing house, Gallopade, with a prolific writing career that includes 86 successful mysteries in print today.
