Celebrated Author Pays Summer Visit to Elm Street Elementary

Newnan, GA- Renowned children’s author Carole Marsh recently appeared at Elm Street Elementary School in Newnan where more than 200 students from the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades were anxiously awaiting the beloved author and storyteller. Getting into the spirit of summer, Marsh entertained the kids with tales from her award-winning books, including some behind-the-scenes secrets about writing her first and favorite mystery book, The Mystery of Blackbeard the Pirate.

The school’s star-struck media specialist, Shannon Ewing, and third grade teacher, Heather Greene, had initiated the famous author’s visit. Greene and Ewing teamed up and were able to bring the award-winning author to the school after reaching out to Gallopade, a Peachtree City-based publishing company. Greene has taught at Elm Street Elementary for four years, and she and Ewing knew that Carole Marsh would be a smash-hit with the students and a special treat before sending them off for summer break.

During her time at the school, Marsh entertained the students with the history and inspiration for her Real Kids! Real Places! mystery books. As Marsh recounted her inspirational encounter with a Blackbeard actor in Bath, NC, silence fell over the auditorium and every student sat quietly captivated by her narrative. The kids and teachers were just as charmed with Marsh’s infectious wit and cheerful nature as she was with her spellbound audience.

After the presentation, students lined up with their beloved, well-worn mystery novels, and waited eagerly for Marsh to autograph them. “Talking with students and fans is one of my favorite parts of being an author,” Marsh declared.  “I just never get tired of meeting new readers!”

Carole Marsh is the author of 48 Real Kids! Real Places! novels as well as eight other mystery series and educational books for children.  Since beginning her writing career more 30 years ago, Marsh continues writing books for kids, most recently authoring the much-anticipated and wildly popular Giggling Ghost Girl Scout Mystery.  Another of her recent books, Mary America: First Girl President of the United States, has been honored with the 2012 Teacher’s Choice Award for the Family from Learning Magazine.  Marsh’s novels and educational materials are published locally by Gallopade International.  For more information about Carole Marsh and Gallopade, please visit www.gallopade.com
