Kids Get Excited About History With
Award-Winning Author’s New Civil War Series!
(PEACHTREE CITY, GA)—After a six-month immersion
of research and writing, award-winning author Carole
Marsh spent some time doing what she loves
most—talking with her readers. Marsh spent the
afternoon at a historical Civil War site in Fayette
County, Georgia with students, educating them about
the Civil War and giving them a first look at her new
non-fiction, six-title Civil War series.
Titles include: Who Were The Key Players in The
Civil War?, What Was The Civil War All About
Anyway?, Where Did the Civil War Happen?,
When Did it Happen in the Civil War?, Civil War
Trivia and Civil War Resource Book. Each book
has a more extensive subtitle to help parents and
teachers, as well as the Civil War museums understand
that this is the real deal: education plus enticement so
that kids will read them, get them and learn. The new
Civil War series for students, published by award-
winning Gallopade International, will be available for
purchase in June 2010 in preparation for the upcoming
150th anniversary of the Civil War.
Marsh is not a novice at enticing young readers to
really care about history. Her Real Kids! Real Places!
America’s National Mystery Series is a global sensation,
featuring contemporary mysteries set in real locales
featuring real characters, including herself.
If you are picturing a dull, textbook tome—get over it! “This ain’t yo’ grandpappy’s Civil War book!” claims Marsh. Indeed, a quick peek at pasted up pages shows a wonderful combination of
excellent facts couched in eye-catching graphics, confirms this statement. The
covers of Marsh’s six new titles, created by renowned designer Vicki DeJoy, are a combo of funky
and radical. The insides, designed by Marsh, are a speedy but thorough story, all in first
person, and often in the words of the actual participants. “Let’s go there, let’s be there!” demands the author, who has a national following among readers, their parents
and teachers.
For more than 30 years now, America’s teachers, librarians and booksellers agree. “You can’t imagine the following she has,” says publisher, Michele Yother. “Kids clamor to be characters in the books, teachers follow her blog, we have to
hustle to keep her titles in stock in America’s top museums, libraries, but also in book fairs, schools, libraries and more.”
Gallopade is the go-to resource for educators and retailers seeking
kid-friendly, timely, educational tools. “We carry Gallopade’s great products at the National Museum of Patriotism located in Atlanta,
Georgia. Their books are a real cornerstone to learning so much about America,” says Nick Snider, Chairman/Founder of the National Museum of Patriotism.
“Kids study this in school, yes. But do they get the larger implications of what we can learn from this
dramatic, bloody, unfortunate history? My goal is that they are blown away by the people, the facts, the vivid
comparison between why we had war then and why we still have war now.”
Carole Marsh is the national spokesperson of 2010: Year of the Children’s Mystery Book and has been named Georgia Author of the Year for Middle Readers.
She is the founder and CEO of Gallopade International, a leader in the
production of curriculum and supplementary educational materials since 1979.
