New Children’s Almanac Boasts 365 Days of Newfangled Facts

Peachtree City, GA – Mimi (children’s author Carole Marsh) gave old-fashioned almanacs a facelift in her latest effort: Mimi and Papa’s Everyday Amazing Almanac. Out for release in January 2012, Marsh’s new treasury of kid-friendly facts is based on one of her own childhood favorites: the old-timey, farmer-style almanac. The new book is characterized by having a traditional, trusted companion feel and conveys the attitude Marsh exudes: “each day is a wonder!”

Hitting shelves early in the new year, Mimi and Papa’s Everyday Amazing Almanac makes an appropriately-timed debut. A 365-day daily and seasonal almanac, for use any year, Mimi and Papa’s Everyday Amazing Almanac demonstrates Marsh’s natural gift for communicating with and inspiring young readers. Speaking directly to kids with joy and humor is what “Mimi and Papa” do best.

Mimi and Papa cover everything from the phases of the moon to baking apple pie, leading some to wonder why Marsh, whose work is usually on the cutting edge of technology (including ebooks, digital whiteboards, and online test prep), would invest her time in such an apparently outdated project. Marsh responds “today’s digital age only makes an almanac more appealing. It’s a wholesome throwback in an age of relentless progress, here at the crossroads of our historical past and an epic future.”

Marsh’s Daily Dozen Classroom Almanac, a Learning Magazine 2012 Teacher’s Choice Award winner, has already proven her point. Widely used in schools, feedback from teachers has ranged from: “My kids can’t wait to get in the door to see what 12 new things they learn today!” to: “I had a hard time getting my students to see the relationship between what they were learning and what it had to do with real life, but this daily almanac kind of thing has them totally engaged!”

Carole Marsh has been writing children’s books and creating educational materials through her publishing house, Gallopade, since 1979. Mimi and Papa’s Everyday Amazing Almanac will be sold in paperback and as an ebook, available January 1, 2012. For more information, visit www.gallopade.com.
