Background

Born:  August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii

Children: Malia and Natasha


Moved to Chicago in 1985.

Married Michelle Robinson in 1992.

Taught law at a college.

Ran for U.S. House of Representatives in 2000. He did not win.

In 2004, Illinois voters elected him to the U.S. Senate.

He decided to run for president of the U.S. in 2008.

Accomplishments

Graduated Columbia University in 1983.

Graduated Harvard La
w School in 1991.

Elected as an Illinois Senator in 1996.

He became the first African American president of the Harvard Law Review.

Today, he is the only African American person serving in the U.S. Senate. He is only the fifth black U.S. Senator ever!

If he is elected president, he will be the first African American President.
