Three Amigos Warm Your Heart in Warm Springs
WARM SPRINGS, GEORGIA—The Puzzle of the Indian Arrowhead is #3 in the new "Three Amigos" early reader chapter book series, by award-winning Georgia children's mystery writer Carole Marsh. "The Three Amigos" are three boys who have fun, who have adventures and who have big hearts. The boys have already solved The Case of the Crybaby Cowboy and The Riddle of the Ooglie Booglie, the first two books in the series.
On a trip to Warm Springs, Georgia with Grant's dad, the three friends learn who FDR was, what polio is and about a Creek Indian legend. Even more importantly, we all learn how you take lemons (polio) and make lemonade! Readers will learn how FDR made Warm Springs a truly warm and happy place for the patients—especially kids—in treatment there. Readers also learn how FDR listened to the local people, which helped all Americans during the Great Depression. And, kids are always interested in Indian legends and finding "stuff" like arrowheads. Young readers won't be able to put this book down!
Author Carole Marsh lives near Warm Springs and has always had an interest in reading a lot about the area and FDR's time spent there. Since Warm Springs is still an active treatment center for patients with paralysis, it has been become a warm spot in her heart especially when she looks at pictures of FDR and the children in the pool—always with smiles on their faces.
"The Three Amigos" series was developed and introduced to interest early readers who are excited to read a "big kids book." Vice-President of New Product Development, Sherry Moss, says, "These books combine the appropriate reading level with high interest topics that will entice young readers. Carole does a great job making sure that each book includes fun, but also has lots of educational value. Once kids read one of them, they'll want to read them all!"
The books are about three boys who know the importance of friendship. And, by making a good effort and working together they can always seem to "find" a mystery, riddle or puzzle to solve. They work together to solve what needs solving and listen to and learn from adults. School Library Journal says, "These early chapter books are quick reads and encourage youngsters to embrace new experiences and make new friends. Short chapters and fun sketches will entice reluctant readers as well."
"Criss Cross Applesauce" is a companion series for young girls that publisher Gallopade International introduced simultaneously with "The Three Amigos." Titles include The Case of the Hunchback Hairdresser, The Riddle of the Missing Puppies and just out—The Puzzle of the Shark Surfer Girl.
"Criss, Cross, Applesauce" and "Three Amigos" books join other popular Carole Marsh Mysteries series that are loved by both parents and children. Marsh has been writing for over 20 years and has over 10,000 books and products in print.
